TELLURIDE REPORTS HEALTHY NUMBERS FOR 2003/2004 SKI SEASON

TELLURIDE, Colo. (May 18, 2004)- The Telluride Ski Resort (Telluride) posted a total of 367,775 skier visits for the 2003-2004 season, a very slight increase over the 2002-2003 ski season. A skier visit represents one person skiing or snowboarding at the ski area for all or part of one day.

"The primary factor that deterred us from achieving our 380,000 skier day goal was the cold temperatures over the holidays. Record sales at lodging establishments, restaurants, and retail stores prove visitors were in town but chilly, snowy weather kept our destination guests off the slopes," said Pete Woods, vice president sales and marketing for Telluride. "When the weather broke, the ski resort experienced a record-breaking day in both skier days and ski school. All things considered, we are pleased with the winter season as we achieved a strong mix of destination and regional skiers."

Just as the snow started to fly, SKI and Skiing magazine ranked Telluride as the 10th best resort in North America. This high ranking created a buzz about Telluride and set the stage for a strong ski season. The sales department kept the momentum going by targeting the traditionally slower time periods of January and February and posted over a 40 percent increase in group business. Telluride also experienced a strong showing from its destination visitors thanks to a strategic and targeted marketing effort towards a high-end clientele. With the debut of a new on-line ticketing component, Telluride experienced a large increase in online sales for lift tickets and ski school lessons. "We were impressed with the number of online sales," said Woods. "Our competitive internet pricing encouraged guests to pre-purchase their tickets prior to arrival."

Telluride's air program, which provides convenient travel options for destination guests, bolstered skier visits. With United Airlines weekend jet service from Denver, Telluride was more accessible for west coast connections. In addition, Telluride increased the number of seats available during the holiday season enabling more guests to travel during peak days. Telluride offers air access from a total of six cities on four major carriers, including American from Chicago and Dallas; Continental from Newark and Houston; United and Great Lakes from Denver; and America West from Phoenix.
