GLOSSARY OF MODALITIES Acupressure Acupressure
stimulates the flow of vital energy, or chi, circulating along the body's
meridians thereby influencing the functioning of certain internal organs.
By applying thumb and fingertip pressure, specific symptoms are
relieved and balance is restored to the entire body.
Effective for treating stress, sciatica, arthritis, headaches,
fatigue and general irritability. Acupuncture Acupuncture
is the art of inserting fine needles at specific points along the body's
meridians to stimulate, disperse and regulate the flow of chi. Acupuncture is used to relieve symptoms, especially pain
relief, as well as to promote general health and well being. Arcane Self-Knowledge Awareness
is the first step in the healing process.
The arcane systems of numerology, astrology, tarot, I Ching, runes
and geomancy can provide uncannily accurate information about one's
nature, health and life situations. Aromatherapy Aromas
contained in essential oils derived from botanical sources are used
therapeutically to treat emotional disorders such as stress and anxiety,

the human subtle energy system (aura and chakras) which are related to the

is movement therapy that identifies how we use or misuse our bodies and

stimulate the healing response. Jin Shin Jyutsu Jin
Shin Jyutsu physio-philosophy is an ancient art of harmonizing the
life energy in the body by balancing of combinations of energy
centers. Massage & Bodywork There
are five basic categories of bodywork: traditional methods; European;
contemporary Western (structural, functional, movement integration),
Oriental and energetic. Their
primary goal is in encouraging relaxation, healing and well-being.
Massage is useful in the treatment of anxiety, back pain, cancer,
circulation problems, colic, depression, headaches, heart disorders, high

practice combines modalities of acupuncture, nutrition, herbalism,

uses mathematical formulas based on the letters of one's name and
birthdate to reveal life and personality patterns.

the principle that the whole body has reflex points in the feet and hands

is a form of structural integration using deep tissue manipulation
designed to balance the body physically and energetically and release
embedded emotional patterns . Shamanic Healing Practitioners
see themselves as conduits of healing energy from a spiritual source such
as a power animal or spirit guide. The
spiritual cause of the illness is addressed first.
It is believed that illness results when the body's harmony with
nature is disrupted. Herbs
combined with imagery and ceremonial induced states of consciousness are
commonly used in healing. Skenar A
